Meet the Generation17 Young Leaders: The Story of Sadya Touré

February 6, 2021

Introducing Sadya Touré, the Generation17 Young Leader from Mali fighting for gender equality and women's education in Africa.

Sadya Touré from Mali is one of our featured Generation17 Young Leaders. Sadya witnessed female injustices and inequalities first-hand growing up in Africa, which inspired her to help women and girls take control of their lives. Through her work, Sadya has written a book on her experience and started Mali Musso, an organization that empowers women through education to destigmatize gender-based violence.

Sadya’s goal is to fight for quality education, public health and an end to inequality – ultimately showing young people it’s possible to make change.

Generation17 is an initiative in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) that aims to harness technology to elevate the voices of young leaders around the globe who are working to achieve the Global Goals over the next 10 years. Established by the United Nations in 2015, the Global Goals - or Sustainable Development Goals - provide a framework to address pressing global challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change and peace and justice, and build a better future for all by 2030.
