Samsung crowns the global winner of their 'A Little Artist’ GALAXY Camera competition

Seoul, Korea - January 17, 2013 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, announced today, Anna Bailey, from the United Kingdom, as the final winner of its 'A Little Artist’ competition, a Facebook campaign targeted at artistically talented young children. The campaign aims to inspire a new generation of 'Little Artists', aged between 5 - 10 years, discover the skill of photography and to have fun doing so. Combining high performance photography with the Android™ 4.1 platform and wireless network connectivity, the GALAXY Camera is so easy to use that these talented artists were immediately able to enjoy taking high quality images, while learning about and exploring the art of photography.

Launched in September 2012, the campaign was inspired by Aelita Andre, a five year old artist widely heralded as an artistic genius. Using the GALAXY Camera, Aelita transferred her artistic talents to the medium of photography, shooting an array of impressive images as she learned about both the camera and photography as an art form, ultimately creating a series of videos and galleries charting her progress. This heralded the beginning of the search for the next 'Little Artist,' with Samsung encouraging children from around the globe to submit either a short essay, photograph or piece of art demonstrating why they should be the next 'Little Artist'.

Out of thousands of entries, five lucky winners were selected to travel to Singapore where they were presented with their own GALAXY Camera and given three new missions, each one challenging participants to use a different feature of the GALAXY Camera to create a winning image. A winner was chosen in each of the three categories, 21x Zoom, Landscape mode and Rich Tone, with Anna Bailey being crowned the overall winner and the next 'Little Artist.'

"Having these talented children work with the GALAXY Camera was a true realization of how easy technology has become to use and what a bright future our youngest generation has with incredible technology. As a parent myself, it makes me proud and excited that the technology that Samsung has created will enable our children to do and accomplish amazing feats in the future,” said Hyeonkoo Lee, Director of Integrated Marketing Communications Group at Samsung Electronics.

As the grand prize winner, Anna Bailey will be flown to South Korea, where she will have a special one to one ‘Photo Art’ workshop with a Korean photographer. Her winning photos from ‘A Little Artist’ will be displayed in a special exhibition in Samsung HQ. The winning images can be viewed on the dedicated 'Little Artist' app accessed at www.facebook.com/samsungcamera.
