Rio de Janeiro – September 12, 2016 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., Worldwide Partner of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in the Wireless Communications Equipment category, announced that the company is supporting the crowdfunding #FilltheSeats campaign to support Brazilian children attend the Paralympic Games. Samsung is donating funds to help more Brazilian youth attend the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and to ensure the stands are packed with fans throughout the Paralympic Games.

As a Worldwide Partner, Samsung is committed to supporting initiatives that help support and raise awareness for the Paralympic Games. Samsung’s global Rio 2016 Paralympic Games campaign – a continuation of the brand’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games program – celebrates how meaningful progress comes from daring to defy barriers.

“Samsung is dedicated to supporting those around the world who are defying barriers because we share the same heritage of overcoming obstacles,” said Helvio Tadashi Kanamaru, Senior Manager of Corporate Citizenship Group at Samsung Electronics Latin America. “By supporting #FilltheSeats, we seek to help showcase the essence of the Paralympic Games that inspires and celebrates the spirit of the human challenge and highlight the importance of seeing ability over disability. For Samsung, this is the true meaning of the Paralympic Spirit.”

In addition to supporting #FilltheSeats, Samsung’s campaign includes several on-the-ground activations including the transformation of Samsung Galaxy Studios in Rio, the Samsung Paralympic Blogger program, official application and the Whang Youn Dai Award. The Samsung Galaxy Studio, which re-opened this week in the Olympic Park, was revamped to help all fans embrace the excitement of the Paralympic Games. The flagship studio in Olympic Park offers unique opportunities for visitors to experience how Samsung Accessibility technology features are designed and utilized to help those with disabilities as part of efforts to show case turning disability into ability and accessibility for all.
